End all of it with a walk on the shore, romance-novel style, and tell that special someone exactly how you feel.

The final thing that really must be mentioned is the Morris Island Lighthouse. Erosion of the beach has caused this imposing landmark to be surrounded by water, but the steps of involved residents have helped it to be protected against even more deterioration due to an underground steel wall. If you consider countries in Asia, then Philippines in the most convenient place to purchase properties along the beach. With that amount, you can definitely own a fabulous beach house here in the Philippines.

Where to go for good beach vacation on Atlantic Coast? I want to rent a beach house – family of five, three kids ages 15-11. Looking for a nice beach (water not too cold) interesting surroundings, not too commercial, but not isolated either. Can go anywhere from Cape Cod to Cape Hatteras, NC, and want to keep costs down. Any suggestions? I know of Cape Cod, Rehoboth Beach, Ocean City, Va Beach and the Outer Banks. Which is best?

Don’t overlook the New Jersey beaches. They’re excellent in summertime. Anywhere from Long Beach Island (Surf City, Ship Bottom, Beach Haven) south to Sea Isle City, Margate, and even the Wildwoods. The best thing about the NJ beaches is that you’re never far from civilization…so you’ll find boardwalks, amusements, etc…and nighttime entertainment. You could even gamble in the Atlantic City casinos and then head back to the quiet beach towns when you’re done. Also, saltwater fishing is free in NJ, no license required.

Anywhere along the outer banks of north carolina would be a good choice; Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, and Killdevil Hills consists of more hotels and stores, and the areas from Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, and the areas beyond KillDevil Hills are pretty quiet areas with rental and residential locations. Va beach is a good choice as well, and is relatively close to a lot of tourist attractions on the southeastern tip of Virginia, and is about 20-30 minutes from Norfolk [which has a pretty nice mall if you like shopping].

What fun stuff can I do with the kids on a Laguna Beach vacation? Would someone in the Laguna Beach area give us some ideas for things to do with 17 and 18 year old teens? We’re planning on visiting Venice Beach (been there, loved it), Universal Studios and a few other beaches during the days, but aren’t sure what would be fun for us at night. It’s me (46 y/o mom, love to stay active and do fun/crazy things), 17 y/o boy and 18 y/o girl. Thank you for any ideas!

Laguna Beach? It isn’t at all like what your teens saw on that stupid MTV television program. Laguna Beach is full of the Arts and Crafts crowd (some of which can be a little “strange”), and lots of very wealthy old people. Other than the beach, and window shopping at all the craft stores there really isn’t much for teens to do. they would quickly get bored. Both you and your teens would probably enjoy Huntington Beach a whole lot more. It has more fun things for teens to do, and lots of quaint shops and eateries for you to enjoy.

Downtown Laguna is fun to window shop, lots of art galleries and other shops that are too expensive for most people. Visiting The Montage Resort is always fun and absolutely gorgeous! Fashion Island shopping center (newport beach) is a great place to shop and hang out as well as Main Street Huntington Beach. Knotts Berry Farm is a fun amusement park that is pretty cheap and you can usually get coupons or get ‘buy on get one free’ tickets if you bring a can of coke. Wild Rivers is a good water park to go to as well. Have fun!
